M171 The PWM controller module is used for controlling the speed of a DC electric motor, DC lighting, heating elements etc. For example, if you are controlling the speed of a 12vdc motor, you would connect a 12vdc power supply to the module and you can then control the output to the motor from zero to full RPM. The module may heat up depending on the load. Therefore, it has to be mounted in a dry and well ventilated place. In case of loads of more than 5 A (up to max. 10 A) the module should be mounted on a metallic heat sink plate to accomodate cooling. This is done by attaching the module to a heat sink or bigger metallic plate (e.g. angle section, metallic plate) in such a manner that the metallic base plate of the module will not heat to more than +70°C under highest load (the connected load runs at max. power). The supply voltage to the module must be between 9...28 V.
Example: When operating a 12Vdc motor the operating voltage must be 12Vdc.
