Polyester 200 Dual Coat Enamel Round Winding Wire is a high performance modified multi-coat polyester based enamel with a polyamide - imide topcoat and is of the highest specification that the UK has to offer.
Also known as magnet wire, the uses include but are not limeted to electric motors, transformers coils, aerial coils, solonoid coils, contactor coils, starter motors, hermetic motors, lighting chokes, electro magnets, Tesla coils and many many more .
Technical Specification
Polyester 200 is a multi-purpose dual coated wire which combines the excellent physical and electrical properties of a polyesterimide or modified polyester base coat with the added chemical resistance, surface toughness, smoothness and high thermal rating of a polyamide-imide linear polymer topcoat. The combination of these two high quality resins produces a coating which has outstanding surface toughness, abrasion resistance, flexibility, chemical resistance, burnout and thermal shock resistance and dielectric strength. These properties coupled with careful selection and processing of the copper produce an enamelled wire which meets the current exacting requirements of the electrical industry.
Chemical Properties
Polyester 200 has outstanding chemical resistance, being unaffected by all common solvents, including those used for cleaning hermetic units e.g. perchloroethylene, mild acids and alkalis. Its negligible extraction by refrigerants make it first choice for use in hermetically sealed refrigeration units.
Temperature Classification
Polyester 200 is suitable for use in Class 'H' Systems provided that a compatible and correctly applied impregnating varnish is used and that all other associated insulating materials are of the same classification.
However, as is well established, this classification is dependent on other factors, especially the nature of the operating environment. When evaluated in accordance with the procedures laid down in I.E.C. Publication 172 this covering has a Temperature Index of the order of 212°C.
