Typical Applications...

The heavy duty voltage sensing split charge relay is used for charging a second battery from your main vehicle (crank) battery. The voltage sensing relay is different from standard split charge relays in that it does not require an alternator connection or ingition switching wire, it simply connects between the two batteries. When the engine is started, the relay detects the higher voltage from the alternator/main battery and will then switch to allow charge to go through to the leisure battery. No over charging can take place and the main battery is charged as normal, so there is no interference with the existing system. Once the engine is switched off, the relay will then open (switch off) and in doing so, disconnects the two batteries so that no matter how flat the leisure battery becomes, it wont affect the main battery.

Example of use...

If you install a second battery in your vehicle for running additional appliances, ie. A camper conversion, and need it to be charged from your vehicles existing system. The relay is connected between the vehicles main battery (Positive) and the leisure battery (Positive). The relay allows charge to the second battery to maintain a fully charged state.

Safety is always our priority, we provide double fusing with all our kits, it is important to fuse the kit on both sides of the relay. All the cable supplied with our kits is Tri Rated cable (heat resisting PVC) meeting the requirements of BS6231.
