Product Description
General Description...
Soil Moisture / Humidity Sensor
Manufacturers Notes...M173
This sensor can be used to switch your garden irrigation pump or an irrigation valve on (via internal switching relay) when the soil becomes too dry and switches off again when there is enough moisture in the soil. The measuring probe has to be buried into the ground at the depth where measuring is to be obtained and has to be connected with the base module device via the supplied cable. Approx. 2 m of cable is included, the sensor cable may, however, be extended up to 20 m with normal 2-pole cable. The device is powered by means of a plug-in power supply (12VDC stabilized, > 130 mA, which is supplied with every module). If the garden is to be irrigated at certain times of the day or weekdays only, then a commercial timer can be installed before the plug power supply and program it accordingly.
Operation sequence: The soil humidity is measured after switching on the operating voltage. The module will remain switched on for 18...30 minutes if the soil is too dry and will switch off again. You can therefore connect various devices such as buzzers, irrigation pumps etc that will automatically switch on and off with the cycle of the moisture sensor. If the soil is moist enough, the device switches to "Pause" for about 18...30 minutes and tkaes a new measurement periodically there after. The sensitivity is full adjustable to allow for a variety of soil moistures and irrigation needs. This continues as an infinite loop unless the operating voltage is switched off.
